I’m happy to share my latest piece, available now at Etsy! I designed this “Reef” scarf with a combination of luminous hand-dyed silk/kid mohair and soft merino wool. The colors in these fibers are amazing, cool and vibrant, in tones of the sea. This is a luxury, one-of-a-kind piece that will be a conversation starter. I’m excited to introduce this type of handmade, wearable art to my shop, and can’t wait to make more!
I’m thrilled to have my handcrafted, all-natural fiber knit and crochet items available at my Etsy.com shop, Christopher Knits! Each piece is truly handmade by me from plant and animal fibers that I personally select for gorgeous color, luxurious texture, and the highest quality. Many are hand-dyed, and I am also adding more un-dyed fibers that are absolutely beautiful without anything else added! I am constantly working on new items, so please check back often to see my latest designs. Thank you!
Knitting with linen can be tricky, as the fibers are much stiffer than most until after a few washings. But, linen is a beautiful, long-lasting, vegan material that is great for warmer weather unlike any other! I used the wonderful “Walk in the Woods” colorway by Claudia Hand-Painted Yarns for this project. I devised this pattern to work with the qualities of the unwashed fiber and look equally good as the piece is worn and washed over time. This lightweight scarf is currently available at my Etsy shop.
I made this scarf using a beautiful yarn from Misti Alpaca called The Best of Nature. It’s 100% baby alpaca dyed with pigments from all-natural plant and mineral sources. My design is a “free-form” pattern that creates a seemingly random look, but actually has a carefully planned rhythm, so it still has balance and an attractive flow. It also features crocheted ends for a little extra detail. The colors in the yarn reminded me of all my favorite herbs, so I called this “Herb Garden.” It is currently available at my Etsy.com shop.
