New at my Etsy shop, this wrap and scarf in my ‘Salal’ design. A little lacy, and a little leafy, this was inspired by the native Salal plants that grow everywhere here in the Pacific Northwest. I had a lot of fun designing, knitting, and photographing these pieces! (All images Copyright Christopher Knits)

Last April, my husband and I traveled to Kaua’i, Hawai’i for our honeymoon. It was a beautiful time of year to be there, and we took several hikes on various parts of the island. I think my favorite was the Kuilau Ridge Trail, which offers lush views of the interior parts of the island. Here are a few of my photos from our day on this trail.
One of our favorite areas to hike is around Sunrise, in the Mt. Rainier National Park. A few weeks ago we did a 7-mile hike around Burroughs Mountain, including Frozen Lake, which in August is more of a pond, but does still have some snow lingering around its edges. I never get tired of how the views of Rainier change along these trails, where it is so close that you can really notice every detail. I especially love seeing the mountain from top to bottom, where rivers emerge from beneath the glaciers and start their journeys down through the foothills. Here are my photos from this hike, and one from a friendly fellow hiker.
